Supervision, Appraisals and difficult conversations

This workshop is designed to strengthen the skills of managers by developing a greater understanding and confidence in managing supervision, appraisal and difficult conversations.
- Recognise the role of supervision and appraisal within performance management
- Identity the characteristics of a successful supervisory relationship and how to carry out supervision effectively
- Recognise types of conflict, causes of conflict and how to manage conflict
- Identify ways of managing poor performance and rewarding good performance
- Gain increased self awareness and confidence in dealing with difficult conversations
This is a full day face to face course.
Autism Awareness

This course is designed to give staff that work with or care for children/young people/adults an introduction to autism and raise awareness of:
- The characteristics of ASD and the triad of impairment
- The ASD perspective – how a person feels and reacts
- Diagnosis, other conditions and legislation
- Challenges associated with ASD
- Supporting children/young people and adults with ASD using a strength based approach and simple adaptations
As with all courses provided this course is tailored to clients needs so that staff can focus in on how best to support their service users whether they are children, young people or adults.
This is usually a 3 hour course delivered face to face and can be combined with a 3 hour ADHD Awareness Course for a full days training.
Safeguarding of Children

This course is designed to give everyone who works within an education setting or in any other setting with children, an introduction to Safeguarding and to raise awareness of key safeguarding issues, legislation, local safeguarding structure, thresholds and Ofsted requirements (including the most recent changes to KCSIE).
It can be delivered over 2 hours as a minimum either face to face or online for an individual school or nursery.
It can also be delivered to staff from a mix of individual settings over 2 ½ hours minimum.
A longer 3 hour Awareness course for individual schools or settings enables a more in-depth look at creating a safeguarding culture as a staff team. Allowing staff to explore how and why signs can be missed and how the lessons learnt from safeguarding practice reviews can be put into practice. Any issues that managers want to specifically address can also be picked up in more depth in this longer session.
Self Harm Awareness and Strategies

This course is will give staff the facts and dispel the myths about self-harm that can lead to uncertainty about how to tackle the issue. Staff will:
- Gain an insight into what might cause a young person to self-harm
- Be aware of the indicative signs of self-harming
- Explore how identifying and supporting someone who self-harms can impact upon them as an individual and those offering support
- Learn about and spend valuable time exploring coping mechanisms and strategies to help a young person control their self-harming
- Explore strategies & resources to promote positive Mental Health.
This course has been successfully delivered both face to face and online.A minimum of 3 hours is needed.
Reflective Supervision Skills

This workshop is designed to strengthen the skills of practitioners and supervisors with safeguarding responsibilities by developing a greater collective understanding of the core components of good reflective supervision. It will enable learners to recognise how reflective supervision can make a real difference to staff and crucially the children, young people and families they work with and give them an opportunity to practice reflective supervision skills in a safe and supportive learning environment. This is a full day face to face workshop with a mix of trainer input, group and individual exercises, scenarios and role play to practice using a number of strategies and tools.
An additional online follow up session(s) can be added to support managers to reflect on changes they have made following the workshop and to further action plan.
Supporting Neurodivergent Employees and Creating a Neuro-inclusive Workplace

This course is designed to enable managers to identify practical strategies that they can implement to support neurodivergent staff to manage work pressures and to achieve their potential. It will also give managers a chance to consider broader steps that can be taken to create a more neuro-inclusive work culture where everyone can thrive.
Managers will gain a common understanding of the terminology, thinking styles, strengths and challenges in the workplace, equality law and reasonable adjustments.
We explore how a clear, person-centred approach to feedback is crucial for neurodivergent staff members and how it can benefit all staff and therefore the organisation as a whole.
Managers will take away many ideas and strategies for creating a more neuro-inclusive work culture.
This is a full day face to face course
